Spiti/Lahul 2003 - Red is the Vision

This year my choice of boulder was influenced by the Castle Hill NZ experiences from earlier in April & May. It's a lot of slopers, mantels, and hard top-outs. The red stones up here have the same feel but the rock is even smoother. Most of these type of boulders are further up the valley which is good as its a bit colder and less vegetation. Only the smoothest red stones are ready to climb all the rest take some hard brushing with plastic brush, toothbrush is OK, but bigger brush is good also.

2003 was much wetter than the year before and I got stuck in dripping goofas a few times. Big storms up at Shiragoru and sometimes for 3 or 4 days straight! My best time was in october when it was so cold and dry - perfect and everybody gone the whole valley empty.
